Curious Roots is a values-led evaluation and engagement consultancy supporting people and projects to grow with purpose. We believe in asking kind, curious questions, listening closely to communities, and helping organisations get to the root of what really matters. Our work is grounded in relationships, reflection, and the belief that meaningful change starts from the inside out.
We believe in working transparently, ethically, and with care. Below are the policies that guide our practice.
We’re looking for pragmatic Quantitative Evaluation Specialists to join our pool of Associates on an ad-hoc/project basis.
We need people who can run the numbers and turn them into insight. You’ll spot themes and trends, test assumptions, make sensible comparisons, and check the analysis so clients can trust the story the data tells. Most datasets arrive in Excel. The brief is often pretty simple: review the raw data, surface what matters, and present it clearly in plain English. We mostly work with third-sector teams, so the analysis you do with us often has real-world impact.
You’d be perfect if you have:
· 3+ years in applied quantitative evaluation/social research delivering to briefs and deadlines (Essential)
· Advanced Excel (cleaning, pivots, lookups) plus R or Python for reproducible analysis and clear charts (Essential)
· Proven experience with monitoring datasets (counts, demographics, outcomes): sensible comparisons, assumption checks, defensible methods (Essential)
· Plain-English quant write-ups and a rigorous QA mindset, including version control, with comfort in a back-office role (Essential)
· Collaborative and reliable, including QA of your own work and others’ (Essential)
· Power BI or Looker Studio for internal tracking dashboards (Desirable)
Interested?
Apply below with: a 2-page CV and 2–3 short, anonymised examples showing (1) a simple pre/post or trend analysis with a chart and a one-paragraph “so what,” (2) your approach to QA and an example of when it was critical to project success and (3) (optional) a summary of a project you’re really proud of – what did you do and why did it turn out so well? Include your day rate and availability.
